To meet the needs of students in Palm Beach County and leverage available
resources, ArtStart has customized, in partnership with the Girl Scouts of
Southeast Florida, an 8-hour program developed by the National Museum for
Women in the Arts. Each group of up to 20 students, grades 1-6, is engaged in
art activities, museum/gallery visits and conversations with contemporary
working artists.
ArtStart’s ArtsAlive!
An interactive arts enrichment program for students of all ages
ArtStart is proud to present a new program designed to stimulate interest in the
arts by engaging and challenging students. This innovative program allows
participants to bring to life classic masterpieces created by the world’s greatest
artists - making the paintings literally leap from the canvas. Through a
combination of visual art, theater, dance, music and creative writing,
masterpieces such as Georges Seurat’s A Sunday on La Grande Jatte are
turned into one-act plays written and performed by students.
Imagination is the key, as student playwrights convert still life into real life,
putting into motion scenes from well-known paintings and bringing the subject
matter from the canvas to the stage. Working with professionals in all of the
arts disciplines, students will gain knowledge that will last a lifetime. History,
art and hands-on experience combined in a fun and interesting setting make
this program ideal for students of all ages. Contact ArtStart for further
information, or to bring this innovative program to your school or community
center. (561) 791-2861 or info@ArtStartInc.org.

My Story: Young Writer's Workshop" Creative Writing Program
Following the successful implementation of a unique creative writing program,
produced in part by ArtStart chairman Bill Underwood, we have developed an
interactive creative writing/storytelling workshop for students in grades 2-5.
“My Story” focuses on areas that are critical in the development of early literacy
skills including vocabulary; oral and written comprehension; alphabet
knowledge; phonics; fluency; and word-recognition skills. The program
challenges students to think of themselves as authors and helps them learn
the steps needed to take a story from an abstract idea to a finished (and
published) literary work. Using a simple prop as a starting point, the students
will work together to develop the story line, create the characters and build the
story.
MasterWorks Birthday Series
What better way to say “Happy Birthday!” to the world’s greatest artists? ArtStart
has developed a program that combines art history with hands-on art activity.
Students will learn about great masters from the past and contemporary artists
whose work takes on many forms.
This ArtStart program will provide an enjoyable art activity for students, each of
whom will create his or her own work of art in a manner reminiscent of the
featured artist. Traveling to area schools and aftercare facilities, ArtStart
personnel will introduce students to a series of artists, introducing the students
to the artist and his or her work and offering some background on the artist’s
style. From there, it’s all about the art, as students work to create a masterpiece
of their very own. Limited class size will be a key to the success of group and
individual projects.
