"My Story" Creative Writing Program

Following the successful implementation of a unique creative writing program, produced in part by ArtStart chairman Bill Underwood, we have developed an interactive creative writing/storytelling workshop for students in grades 2-5.

“My Story” focuses on areas that are critical in the development of early literacy skills including vocabulary; oral and written comprehension; alphabet knowledge; phonics; fluency; and word-recognition skills. The program
challenges students to think of themselves as authors and helps them learn the steps needed to take a story from an abstract idea to a finished (and published) literary work. Using a simple prop as a starting point, the students will work together to develop the story line, create the characters, build, and illustrate the story.
Perfect for classroom or afterschool settings. Call for programming information. (561) 635-2037.

Discovering Art

To meet the needs of students in Palm Beach County and leverage available resources, ArtStart has customized a program developed by the National Museum for Women in the Arts. Each group of up to 20 students, grades 1-6, is engaged in art activities, museum/gallery visits and conversations with contemporary working artists.

Masterworks Artist Series

What better way to learn about the world’s greatest artists? ArtStart has developed a program that combines art history with hands-on art activity. Students will learn about great masters from the past and contemporary artists whose work takes on many forms.

This ArtStart program provides an enjoyable art activities for students, each of whom will create his or her own work of art in a manner reminiscent of the featured artist.  Traveling to area schools and aftercare facilities, ArtStart personnel introduce students to master artists, and their work. From there, it’s all about the art, as students work to create a masterpiece of their very own.
